Transportation of wind turbines - unique project being realized in Georgia for the first time
Transportation of wind turbine components for Kartli Wind Power Plant moved to active phase.
On 28th of July Logistics Solutions recieved first vessel with turbine components at Poti Port, which was loaded in Ejbsberg port of Denmark on 11th of July. Vessel was safely discharged and components moved to storage area using special trailers. Turbine blades, nacelles, drive trains and hubs have beend delivered by first vessel from Denmark, rather than second vessel with tower sections is expected to arrive in Poti around 8-9th of August.
Consortium of Logistics Solutions and Hareket Project Transportation Company is facing big challenge. Transportation of wind turbine components in Georgia is unique project, being realized in Georgia for the first time. No cargo of such scale and dimensions has been transported in Georgia before.
Wind tubrine consists of several components, where the most difficult for transportation is turbine blade being made of very sensitive material and having length of 57m.
From 12th of August begins the most interesting process - inland transportation of turbine components from port to project site as well as erection works on site. Preparation works on site and construction of access roads are almost finished and will be ready to receive first components by mid August.
