Morocco goes greener
It’s needless to question the existence of climate change today and that it poses a serious threat to whole planet. Furthermore, it is proven hundredfold that Human activity is a major cause of it. Well, at least Logistics Solutions does believe so.
We are glad that international community works actively towards mitigation of global warming, promotes alternative energy sources and helps developing countries in decarbonization.
Meanwhile air pollution and so-called greenhouse gass effect is mainly generated by means of transportation, both of people and cargo.
Since the eco-friendly policy is one of our central social responsibilities we are interested in inspiring examples and approaches of other countries on the way to get greener.
Such example today can be Morocco that is being pushed forward towards decarbonization. More than 75% of goods of the fifth largest economy in Africa are transported overland, according to the world bank. And according to the OECD, country’s strength in the field of industrial production, activities in manufacturing industry and numerous other promising sectors depend on an active role of the transportation and logistics to keep going. All this simultaneously causing significant rise of transport activities and increase of emissions respectively.
Consequently, International Transport Forum (ITF), an intergovernmental OECD body which has 62 countries as its members (including Georgia) recently presented a paper addressing the need to further develop transport sector in Morocco and make it more eco-friendly. It examines, among other things, ways in which to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Morocco’s overland transport activities. For example, it identifies the key challenges that need to be overcome before the effective decarbonization of passenger and freight transport services can take place.
It worth mentioning that, previously Moroccan government have already wowed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by 2030.
For our attention, similar incentives have been already issued by our neighboring Azerbaijan as well. That is why let’s be hopeful that in near future Georgian government will also introduce further eco-friendly steps.
